State Supreme Court Asked to Overule Appellate Court’s Reversal of Birth Father’s Terminated Parental Rights

State Supreme Court Asked to Overule Appellate Court’s Reversal of Birth Father’s Terminated Parental Rights
November 10, 2021 James Greenier

According to a news report published on mlive.com, adoptive parents have asked the state Supreme Court to overrule an appeals court ruling that the birth father’s parental rights should not have been terminated.

The appellate panel decided in a 2 to 1 decision to reject the adoptive parents’ appeal to revise its preceding ruling that reversed the termination of the biological father’s parental rights to “Baby Boy Doe.”

The statutes that govern the process of terminating parental rights can be found in Kansas Article 21 – Adoption 59-2136 – Relinquishment and adoption; proceedings to terminate parental rights.
